John Becton     6th DAN (Roku Dan)

John has studied Karate for over 35 years and began his study in Monroe, Louisiana in 1989 under Shihan Bob Allen.


John has competed all over the United States in the AAU and USA Karate.

  • Amatuer Athletic Union (AAU) - Individual Kata National Champion - 3 Times (1990 - 1992)

  • Amatuer Athletic Union (AAU) - Collegiate National Champion - 6 Times (3: Team Kata, 3: Team Kumite; 1990 - 1992)

  • USA Karate - Individual Weapons National Champion (2013)


John was Captain of the University Karate Team at the University of Louisiana at Monroe (formerly Northeast Louisiana University) for 3 years.


He is a Nationally Certified Referee and Certified Coach in the USA Karate Organization. He has traveled all over the United States attending and officiating at Karate Tournaments.

Shawn began the study of Karate in 2010 under his father, John Becton, in Memphis, Tennessee. Once the family moved to West Monroe, Louisiana, he also studied under Shihan Bob Allen.


Shawn has competed in the USA Karate National Championships several times and has medaled multiple times. He has competed in numerous tournaments across the United States earning gold, silver and bronze medals many times over.


Shawn is a diligent student and instructor and always seeks to be the best at whatever he does. He graduated from the Louisiana Scholars College on the Northwestern State University campus in Natchitoches, Louisiana in May 2021 with a degree in Theater.

Jarod (Cole) Becton     2nd DAN (Ni Dan)

Cole began the study of Karate in 2010 under his father, John Becton, in Memphis, Tennessee. Once the family moved to West Monroe, Louisiana, he also studied under Shihan Bob Allen.

Cole has competed in the USA Karate National Championships several times as well as in numerous other tournaments across the United States earning gold, silver and bronze medals many times over.

Cole is homeschooled and is very clever and loves theater like his older brother and sister. He has been in different productions in local Youth and Local Theater Groups including "Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat", "The Wizard of Oz", "The Addams Family", "Forever Plaid" and "Seusical Jr.". He's enrolled at Northwestern State University studying Theater and Music. He is a member of the Student Theater Organization as well as the Chamber Choir.

Troy started his studies of Martial Arts in 1988. He competed in the United States Karate Alliance from 1988 to 1992. He later joined the International Matsumura Seito Society and learned to Art of Iaido (Japanese swordmanship) and Kobudo (Okinawan weapons). Troy holds black belts in these arts including Karate.

Over the last three years, Troy started to study Yuuki do Karate (Shotokan Karate) and received his black belt (Shodan – 1st Dan) in this style of Karate as well.

Outside of Martial Arts, Troy is a certified instructor of Emergency Medical Services. He lives in Louisiana with his wife of 28 years, Tammy.
